Peace and happiness. They can be hard to come by and difficult to hold onto. Seems there's always another worry that pops up: (insert your life stressor here). Even when things are generally ok, our mind finds something else for us to worry about. Truth is, there's inevitably another storm ahead. Not sure when or how big but we know it's out there, lurking, waiting to derail our quest for peace and happiness once again. IF. If we allow ourselves to believe that calming our worries means we must control the world around us, then we're perpetually at the mercy of the next crisis, big or small. What if there's a better path to peace? Maybe our minds are more capable than we realize. If we let go of the illusion that peace and comfort will somehow be provided to us, then the challenge is to learn to trust that we're capable of handling whatever events life brings. We will not feel calm and peaceful all the time, probably not even most of the time. We don't have to. Yet as we come to understand and trust our own minds, there's comfort in realizing we'll find our way through the next challenge. Knowing and trusting ourselves: It's easier said than done but that is where peace lies. We can anchor ourselves in full awareness and acceptance of the swirl of thoughts and emotions around us and know that we'll find our way. We'll figure out what to do and eventually, we'll be ok. Getting to know and trust your mind? I've been at this for 30 years and never tire of the adventure. I'm ready when you are.
